Purpose and goal
The project aims to enable safe handling of biocarbon in the metallurgical industry by reducing risks of mold growth and spontaneous combustion. The goal is to develop models, guidelines, and best practices for the storage, transport, and use of biocarbon, and to raise awareness and knowledge throughout the entire value chain.
Expected effects and result
The project will deliver new models and guidelines for safe biocarbon handling in the metallurgical industry. Through experiments, simulations, and industrial trials, it will reduce the risks of mold and spontaneous combustion. The results will enhance safety, improve working conditions, and support the transition to fossil-free metal production.
Planned approach and implementation
The project is structured into seven work packages focusing on experiments, modeling, industrial trials, and risk analysis. Led by Swerim in collaboration with industry and academia, the results will be compiled into guidelines and a best practice report, tested and shared across the entire biocarbon value chain.
