Call Impact Innovation: Resilient metals and minerals supply for strengthened preparedness

Purpose and goal

HåBiMet-RF is a pre-study aimed at developing new, integrated knowledge on the importance of carbon supply for resilience and preparedness within the Swedish metallurgical industry. The project will map risks in Swedish carbon supply chains, identify strategies for increased resilience, highlight structural barriers, and establish a shared knowledge base for industrial and public stakeholders. The project will also evaluate biogenic carbon as a component of a more resilient supply system.

Expected effects and result

The project is expected to deliver a mapping of carbon supply chains, an analysis of demand and dependencies within the metallurgical industry, and an integrated system-level vulnerability assessment. The results will provide industrial and public stakeholders with decision-support material for strategic decision-making, risk assessment, and future planning. The project is also expected to identify knowledge gaps and potential directions for future efforts to strengthen supply preparedness.

Planned approach and implementation

The project will be carried out as a pre-study in which carbon supply chains, industrial dependencies, and supply criticality are analyzed through interviews, available statistics, and industry knowledge. The results will be integrated into a system-level vulnerability assessment to identify risk patterns, dependencies, and potential resilience strategies. As part of the analysis, a workshop will be conducted to discuss and validate preliminary findings with internal and external stakeholders.
