Purpose and goal
The planning grant will support consortium-building activities and proposal writing to maximize the STAR-EC (Smart Traceable Autonomous Resilient Energy Communities) project’s competitiveness. STAR-EC explores the integration of secure, interoperable, and AI- enabled solutions for European energy communities, enabling citizens, municipalities, and DSOs to actively participate in local energy management, peer-to-peer trading, and resilient grid operation.
Expected effects and result
The planning grant will deliver a competitive Horizon proposal and the main project results will include interoperable, secure, and AI-driven solutions empowering citizens, DSOs, and municipalities in the decentralized energy transition. Three European pilots will validate smart, traceable, and resilient community models integrating IoT nanogrids, BMS, DLCPs, and P2P trading for efficient, secure, and transparent energy sharing.
Planned approach and implementation
STAR-EC will adopt a co-creation and pilot-based methodology, integrating research, development, and validation through cross-sector collaboration. Activities will progress from design and prototyping to real-life testing in three diverse energy communities, ensuring adaptability and user acceptance. A strong management structure will coordinate technical work, standard compliance, and impact monitoring to guarantee effective implementation and scalability.
