Purpose and goal

SORLEG4FOOD aims to develop a winning EU-Africa Horizon Europe proposal for green, sustainable food production. The project is coordinated by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) with partners from Sweden, Germany, Spain, Lithuania, Sudan, South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, Niger and CIMMYT-Afrika. The grant enables coordination, partner mobilization and professional proposal writing, ensuring Sweden´s leadership in climate-resilient and nutritionally secure food systems.

Expected effects and result

The absolute goal of this awarded project is to form a strong consortium that has the ability to submit a winning proposal, which can generate an EU-Africa collaboration in green, sustainable food production. The expected results and impacts are to create a long-term transcontinental collaboration that can win a project within the AU-EU-call, which will have long-term impacts on European and African climate-adapted and nutritionally secure food systems.

Planned approach and implementation

The work within the project will be conducted within five work packages (WPs). WP1 management and organization of the work within the project. WP2 (Dec 2025 - Jan 2026), formalization of partners and roles. Letters of intent are written. WP3 (Feb - April 2026), the work packages are formulated and written, workshop with participating partners. WP4 (March - May 2026), general parts such as gender equality, impact and dissemination are written. WP5 (May - June 2026), completion of proposal.
