Purpose and goal
Smart City Lab focuses on building the technical and organizational capabilities and prerequisites needed in a municipality to collect and make dynamic data available in a secure, scalable and controlled way. These abilities are related to the so-called "soft digital infrastructure" which is quite similar in all municipalities but which is underdeveloped at the national level. It should be possible to share data with others in order for those to refine data and eventually to create value from data without data, no data-driven innovation.
Expected effects and result
The project will help municipalities and municipal companies to increase their ability to meet the societal challenges of the future through data-driven innovation and to create a better place for everyone in an interconnected world. By building up the capability to share data within a municipality and with other actors, municipalities can take the next big step in their digitalization journey. The project will lower the thresholds to get started and make it significantly easier for the municipalities that have already begun their journey.
Planned approach and implementation
The project offers a broad palette of initiatives: guidelines, experience sharing, targeted coaching, seminars, etc. Efforts aimed at raising the level of knowledge, increasing capacity and working with the necessary basic requirements to share data within municipalities and municipal companies that are the project´s primary target group. Also, the project will influence and collaborate with suppliers and national actors in the data sharing ecosystem around municipalities to ensure that all parts of the soft digital infrastructure necessary for municipalities are developed.
