Sensor Properties for Indoor Testing and City Environment (SPICE)
|Funding from Vinnova||SEK 1 410 510|
|Project duration||October 2017 - March 2019|
|Venture||Traffic safety and automated vehicles -FFI|
Purpose and goal
The purpose of the project is to gather knowledge and specifications based on which AstaZero can proceed with investing in an indoor test facility. This will give customers better availability of a test track for active safety function testing during parts of the year when weather is an obstacle. The goal is to understand physical dimensions, lightning and relevant sensor properties, especially radar, camera and GNSS, in order to specify a design that caters the customer needs.
Expected results and effects
The project has investigated existing indoor test tracks around the world to map today´s state of the art. In addition, the most prioritized and frequent test cases made today, but also in the future, have crystallized out and resulted in an appropriate dimension and geometry. Based on this, field tests on various design alternatives have been carried out with real test cases, equipment and sensors to understand its properties in an indoor environment.
Planned approach and implementation
The project´s results have been developed using all the project partners´ experiences, knowledge and contact networks within the industry for testing of active safety. Vehicle manufacturers have, based on their needs, developed requirements for dimensions and geometry, while the research side and sensor developers have contributed with sensor testing and data analysis.
