Call Impact Innovation: Preparatory project for a reformed public sector

Purpose and goal

The goal of this project is to create more opportunities for Swedish hospitals, outside the main cities, to participate in clinical studies. Thereby also increasing the total number of clinical trials. Seven regions will prepare a plan for the implementation of a new model for optimised collaboration, by building on an already established collaboration process currently used to support the regional Life Science sector. The expectation is a reduction of participation cost by up to 80%.

Expected effects and result

The project will create a plan for future implementation of the collaboration model, and related activities. It will design a uniform regional offer and contract basis for pharmaceuticals and medical technology. It will create a common structure for study flows, contact points and regulatory support, and increase knowledge about clinical requirements. In addition, we want to investigate possible incentives for increased clinical engagement and participation of employees at different levels.

Planned approach and implementation

The project consists of three work packages that run concurrently. Region Västmanland will coordinate, with support from all other partners. In WP1, we will analyse existing processes and obstacles in the regions, both with regards to pharmaceuticals and medical technology. In AP2, relevant target groups will be contacted to give views on what an optimised process can look like. In WP3, the results from WP1 and 2 will be used to develop a proposal for a structure for a new collaboration model.
