Purpose and goal
The aim of this project is to contribute to the next development phase by systematically investigating - legally as well as technically - how to safely operate remote assisted vehicles in mixed traffic and with higher velocity. This project will have impact as we will demonstrate goods transport without a safety host onboard and with higher velocity than in today’s pilots in Sweden and international.
Expected results and effects
The project will be accelerating development in goods transport by bundling together Swedish-French expertise and finding synergies and key aspects for enabling niche market adoption. We address the critical safety and security aspects from a legal and technical perspective to prepare for and finally run demonstrations at Lindholmen/Gothenburg. The project will contribute to theory building, practical improvement and recommendations of how to safely operate remote assisted vehicles in Sweden, France and in other EU countries.
Planned approach and implementation
Focus of the project is on exploring how to safely operate remote assisted trucks with higher velocity in a mixed traffic environment together with Einride, Ericsson and Telia. The safety case will be explored by testing at AstaZero, a gated environment and will finish with a short demonstration with Einride´s Pod at Lindholmen/Gothenburg. Under RISE´s lead, the partners will suggest a method and a framework for safety argumentation that manages variability and all different perspectives. Recommendations for the public road application in France/EU market will be made.
