Important results from the project
The project´s objectives were met. They were to develop a common terminology for rock and soil material management, which can be used from planning to implementation, as a basis for digital services and documentation, to further develop the digital services Optimass for early planning stages and Collecct for the implementation stage, and to develop working methods for municipalities around the use of information about excavated rock and soil materials.
Expected long term effects
The project´s results contribute to clarifying the differences between different types of aggregates, their reusability and potential to replace quarry products, as well as the legal requirements that are set for reuse measures. Furthermore, the project has developed concrete digital support for planning and following up on aggregate management in implementation projects. The project results contribute to enabling clients to set requirements for measures for the reuse of aggregates.
Approach and implementation
The project was carried out in three parts: 1. A document search and compilation of terms for mass management 2. Development of proposals for the development of existing digital tools for planning and follow-up of mass management 3. Tests and demonstrations with municipal users. The combination of concrete demonstrations and discussions on how the results can be implemented was appreciated and was efficient in moving the project forward.
