Important results from the project

The overall goal of the project was to increase the innovation activity between Sweden and Brazil through matchmaking, networking and strategic activities. Participation by Swedish industry and RISE researchers has increased considerably in Innovation Week activities in Sweden and Brazil as well as the international funding programs offered by Vinnova. Furthermore RISE has increased its participation within the high level groups, EIT och SGI that has helped lead to the development of long term strategic innovation programs between the countries.

Expected long term effects

The result of the project has been to increase the participation of Swedish actors within the Swedish-Brazilian innovation program. The project led to the increased participation of Swedish companies in the Innovation Week activities and has led to many innovation projects in different phases of development- planning, prestudy, and execution. The effect of increased innovation activity has positive long-term effects on building the cooperation between Sweden and Brazil.

Approach and implementation

The project was led by RISE with close cooperation from SENAI’s central International Relations department in Brasilia. The matchmaking event in Sao Paolo was hosted by SENAI and their EEN representative. While the cooperation with SENAI has been strong, there is not a formal mechanism for the sustainability of the cooperation, which has led to less contact in the later phases in the project (Corona effect also). A formal networking platform between SENAI (and Embrapii) is recommended with funding to maintain long term cooperation between the research institutes in both countries.
