Reusable enzymes for industrial use

Important results from the project

EnginZyme has a patented technology for producing reusable enzymes. The goal of this project was to produce three off-the-shelf products, three reusable enzymes that are suitable for and sought by industry. This was accomplished, and the products will be launched.

Expected long term effects

The goal of the project was to reach a point where products can be launched. This goal was reached. The products will be introduced on the market after large-scale production is ensured with a company with which we are now collaborating. This will first be done with one product, the other two will then follow, and then more types developed in collaboration with this partner. In addition to the launch of new products, the results show that our existing technology is viable for several enzyme types and provides significant cost savings for the user. This is of great importance.

Approach and implementation

1. Market analysis Prospective customers, primarily pharmaceutical companies, were met through trips to their sites and at conferences. Literature searches were used to estimate the market size. Three enzyme types were selected on this basis. 2. Product development The enzymes were purchased and / or produced in our laboratory, and applied with our technology for enzyme reuse. 3. Testing Functional tests and some optimizations resulted in characterized products with verified function.
