Important results from the project
The objective was to views from R&D directors in Swedish companies regarding the conditions for conducting R&D in Sweden. These were compiled in the R&D Barometer 2025, with purpose to highlight key areas for policymakers to strengthen international competitiveness. Rresults were presented and discussed at a seminar at IVA with R&D directors, doctoral students, and representatives from the three largest political parties, and also communicated broadly externally. The objectives were achieved.
Expected long term effects
The R&D Barometer 2025 was the seventh edition, and the time series provides an opportunity to track both developments and changes in conditions in Sweden, as well as shifts in priorities among R&D directors. The importance of R&D activities and strong companies in Sweden is crucial for Swedish prosperity, and the findings of the R&D Barometer are received with great interest by policymakers and society, helping to continuously improve the conditions for business R&D investments in Sweden.
Approach and implementation
Analysis of previous process, results and development of updated questionnaire. Selection of R&D-intensive smaller and large companies, and quality assurance of contact lists. Sending questionnaires and working on response rate through reminders, direct contacts, as also in-depth interviews. Analysis of results for the barometer. Implementation of seminar at IVA with political representation, businesses and other relevant actors. Brad communication of results. Assessment of lessons learned.
