Project duration | March 2011 - December 2013 |
Status | Completed |
Purpose and goal
Generation of recombinant proteins (TBEV and Borrelia), production of monoclonal antibodies, and development of rapid diagnostics.
Results and expected effects
A number of different recombinant proteins of TBEV and Borrelia were generated. Five monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) against TBEV were generated and characterized. Rapid tests as TBEV IgM EIA, TBEV IgG EIA, prototype TBEV rapid test, and prototype Borrelia test were developed. The new tests for rapid diagnostics will have a great value in the clinical microbiology. One TBEV MAbs is already to date used in the reference diagnostics of TBEv infections at SMI/FoHM (unique in Europe). The various recombinant proteins and the Mabs will have a great value in future research projects.
Approach and implementation
The project was well-planned with logical sub-projects (WP1-3) divided between the 3 partners. The collaboration worked very well.
