Purpose and goal
The concept of Production Angels has a great potential to improve SMEs and startups industrialisation of new products, i.e. from prototype to serial production. Production Angels works like Business Angels but is directed towards the phase of the value chain often called "the valley of death". The concept has been tested in a real pilot with the startup Pharem Biotech and KTH as project owner together with Södertälje Science Park and IVA. Pharem introduced their industrialisation case for a panel of 7 production angels according to developed methodology.
Expected results and effects
The goal of the project to develop and test the concept Production Angels has been fulfilled with very good results. All partners have been very active in both development and operations of the concept. The result has been presented to the board of Södertälje Science Park with positive response of a continuation in order to strengthen the innovation system, and with potential to scale up on national basis when the concept is tested and finalized.
Planned approach and implementation
The operative project methodology with workpackages has been followed and worked very well. The expected results of the project has been fulfilled above expectations. An extensive evaluation of the concept Production Angels has been made in the form of an survey and interviews with all participants involved. It shows an extensive need for supporting SMEs and startups industrialisation phase as such, and very positive response on the concept. Some smaller modifications of the concept have been made in relation to the pilot to improve the quality and prepare for upscaling.
