Purpose and goal
The overall aim is to develop an attractive and practically applicable system/framework for measuring and follow-up of carbon performance in civil construction projects, which will support client organizations to set requirements and drive carbon transition in projects, as well as a support for actors in the project´s value chain to meet requirements and expectations and accelerate their own carbon transition work.
Expected effects and result
The goal of the feasibility study is to develop a requirements specification for a system/framework that enable "benchmarks"/comparisons against carbon transition scenarios and between projects. This requirements specification will form the basis for the next phase: for SGBC to further develop the system/framework through, among other things, pilot projects, with the goal of creating a solution, in the form of a certification system or similar, that is attractive to the industry.
Planned approach and implementation
The project is being implemented in a strong project consortium consisting of 11 parties from the entire supply chain, with funding from Vinnova/InfraSweden, SBUF, and six of the parties. The project consists of seven work packages, starts in August 2026 and ends in the fall of 2027. The strong collaboration between clients, contractors, suppliers, research and SGBC ensures relevance, dissemination and a clear path towards testing and development in pilots and long-term industry benefit.
