Important results from the project
Unfortunately, we did not proceed to stage 2 for the international proposal we worked on, so we did not fulfill the project´s objective. However, it provided lessons and insights that will be used in new development processes. It also provided an expanded European network that we hope to be able to benefit from in the future.
Expected long term effects
The hope remains that we will be able to secure project funding to implement a similar project in the future. If we succeed in this, we hope to develop systems for heat cooperation by developing practical tools and guides for integrating low-grade process heat and waste heat into district heating systems to increase energy efficiency, reduce dependence on fossil fuels and strengthen Europe´s path towards climate-neutral heating and cooling by 2050.
Approach and implementation
The work was carried out from the time of grant of funding until we were informed that we had not progressed to stage 2.
In close collaboration with Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz and SDU, we worked to support the preparation of the proposal for stage 2, which included literature reviews and interviews with stakeholders to ensure relevance and impact. In addition, we worked to design and refine the work packages, to ensure both scientific quality and compliance with the call´s objective.
