Important results from the project

The aim of the preparatory project was to create a basis for and prepare for a system demonstration of solutions for emission-free mining. The project consortium has attracted new partners and developed a plan for a system demonstration of a number of electrified solutions for various purposes in the mining industry, taking into account the different system challenges. The demonstrations will take place within production and logistics systems, which extends from mining to finished metals.

Expected long term effects

The activities in the main project are expected to contribute to the development of vehicles linked to electrified ore transport underground and on public roads, as well as for machines used in production and for service in the mining industry. The current system creates the conditions for generating knowledge about how transportation and material handling within the various processes in the mining industry can be electrified and thus become relevant for the mining industry in general.

Approach and implementation

The consortium started with the existing production and logistics system that will be the subject of the system demonstration. The system and its various subsystems and processes were investigated through on-site observations and subsequent calculations, simulations and analyses to assess the potential and suitability for implementing electrified solutions in its various parts. This resulted in a basis for the plan that was developed for the subsequent system demonstration.
