Important results from the project

The aims of EQUAs part in OPENCPS has been twofold: 1) To develop a method for software-in-the-loop simulation of PLC controller code (IEC 61131-3) coupled with large physical models. 2) To develop a set of benchmark Modelica models that are representative for needs within EQUAs application areas: simulation of buildings and energy systems. Both of these aims have been fulfilled within the project.

Expected long term effects

The new software-in-the loop simulation method is likely to render significant business opportunities for the company. In fact, it has the potential to become disruptive for the industry. The developed benchmark models have confirmed that EQUAs simulation methods provides superior scalability in comparison to other Modelica tools.

Approach and implementation

The collaboration with leading simulation researchers and industries have been extremely fruitful. OPENCPS has been well managed and has rendered very useful new tools and contacts for EQUA.
