Important results from the project

The objectives were largely achieved: the project produced an evidence base on effective measures that can complement private car ownership and enable reduced parking standards. It resulted in a white paper, to be distributed after peer review, and a behaviour change platform for shared mobility based on local surveys. However, the platform could not be tested in a real-world setting due to time constraints among project partners.

Expected long term effects

In the long term, the project is expected to support reduced parking standards through a stronger evidence base on effective alternatives to private car ownership. The developed platform creates conditions for increased use of shared and sustainable mobility and offers a scalable model for integrating behavioural science into urban development, contributing to reduced car dependency and lower emissions.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out in four phases: 1) Stakeholder dialogue and literature review to establish a shared knowledge base, 2) A resident survey mapping mobility patterns, barriers, and drivers, 3) Adaptation and behavioural design of the Smart Nudges Mobility platform based on findings, 4) Planned real-world testing. Development was completed as intended, but full-scale testing was limited due to time and coordination constraints.
