Reference number
Coordinator Linköpings universitet - IFM, Linköping University
Funding from Vinnova SEK 4 770 597
Project duration December 2016 - November 2019
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim of this project has been to develop and evaluate a completely new type of technology for monitoring production processes for the production of biological drugs with the aim to create conditions for streamlining processes and thereby reducing production costs and improving product quality. The sensor technology developed during the project shows great potential and will be further developed both within the framework of academic research and by commercial actors.

Expected results and effects

The project has resulted in both interesting research results and a number of inventions and innovations. The work has provided new valuable knowledge about biosensor design, which is of both academic and industrial value, and which has provided several positive synergies for the research conducted in the area. Above all, a brand new flexible and innovative technology for online / in-line monitoring of biomolecules has been developed that has great commercial potential.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has been conducted in close collaboration between academic researchers and representatives from leading companies in biotechnology and bioprocess technology. This collaboration and all parties´ great commitment and willingness to share knowledge has been a key to the successful implementation of the project. The project was divided into five work packages with well-defined sub-goals and a clear division of work, which facilitated implementation.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
