Purpose and goal

The aim of the project is to develop novel process analytical technologies for online real time monitoring of products and product related impurities in the production process of biological drugs. The ambition is to provide Swedish biotech industry with unique capabilities to optimize and intensify the production process and to facilitate development of continuous processes.

Expected results and effects

The sensor technology is expected to facilitate more cost and resource efficient production by providing information required for implementing continuous processing, reduce lag times, improve yields and increase product quality.

Planned approach and implementation

The sensor technology will be developed, implemented and validated in both lab and pilot scale production facilities. To make the technology meet the requirements and needs of the industry, the sensors will be developed and evaluated in close collaboration with both a leading manufacturer of biotherapeutics and a developer and global provider of state-of-the-art equipment for bioproduction.
