Important results from the project
The aim of the project was to prepare for the creation of a Nordic Circular Hotspot (NCH), based on the Dutch model. The circular economy hotspot is an international cluster, so the NCH will become part of an international network of circular change agents. Throughout the project, three Nordic countries have been involved while we have also been in contact with Finland and Iceland. From the survey we see that there is an interest in increased Nordic collaboration. We therefore believe that the development of the NCH will further the Nordic collaboration and value add in the area.
Expected long term effects
When the hotspot is established, it is expected to deliver the following effects: *To stimulate cooperation between the private sector, knowledge institutions, governments and other relevant parties; *To provide international visibility of Nordic CE innovations/best practices; *To assist foreign parties in linking with relevant Nordic CE parties; *To establish an online community where both Nordic and foreign actors can post CE challenges and solutions, and generate business matches; *To facilitate access to Nordic and international (financing) instruments and programs
Approach and implementation
The project was launched at the World Circular Economic Forum in Helsinki in June 2019. With the help of a survey tool, we created a survey with a focus on the main objectives of CE and needs to increase the collaboration in the Nordic countries reg CE. From the survey we had 7 clusters of people. Within each cluster there was a broad representation of different stakeholders, in relation to both countries and industry. The survey also gave insight to needs for increased collaboration in the Nordics and the potential for a "Nordic Circular Hotspot".
