Non-volatile beam steering: Memristor-enabled reconfigurable antennas for 6G (NOVA-6G)

Reference number
Coordinator Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan - Elektromagn och fusionsfysik
Funding from Vinnova SEK 496 380
Project duration December 2025 - May 2026
Status Ongoing
Venture Global cooperation 2025
Call Planning grant for international proposal 2025

Purpose and goal

The main goal is demonstrating that the combination of geodesic lenses and memristors can produce extremely efficient, cost-effective, real-time reconfigurable antenna solutions for millimeter wave applications. This will have a significant societal impact by providing faster data rates for everyone, everywhere, as well as reducing, drastically, the energy consumption of our wireless communications.

Expected effects and result

To produce preliminary experimental results to be included in the proposal. We will conduct a MSc thesis for experimentally demonstrating a microwave memristor switch. To organize a workshop to enable synergies among the project´s partners and strengthen the potential collaborations. To get support from a specialized company in written proposals, which will help to improve our the text and figures, increasing our chances to succeed.

Planned approach and implementation

We will conduct a collaborative MSc thesis in the topic of the proposal. We will manufacture and test some initial prototypes. We will organize a workshop in Stockholm (KTH) inviting all the partners. We will write the proposal with the support of a specialized company.
