Purpose and goal
The project aims to investigate and strengthen the social and psychological dimension of shelter stays, an area that currently lacks practical knowledge and tools. The goal is to develop HSB´s guidance for social preparedness and neighbor cooperation in shelters: concrete methods for how neighborhood communities can be organized and strengthened in the event of recurring, occasional underground life, as well as tools for property owners to communicate the value of the shelter already in peacetim
Expected effects and result
The project delivers HSB´s guidance for social preparedness in shelters: a manual with concrete tools for property owners, associations and the industry. New knowledge is generated about how neighborhood communities function under pressure and how speculative design works as a method in the preparedness context. The project concludes with a dissemination event and contributes to a shift in perspective: from shelters as an administrative burden to a meaningful resource for security and cohesion.
Planned approach and implementation
The project is being implemented in five work packages over nine months. AP1 provides project management and process management. I AP2 gathers knowledge through in-depth interviews with model associations, literature studies and knowledge transfer from Repower about Ukrainian experiences. AP3 conducts co-creation workshops with speculative design. AP4 designs and tests a physical prototype in HSB Living Lab. AP5 compiles lessons learned in the manual and concludes with an industry event.
