Important results from the project

The objective was to form a strong consortium to explore and demonstrate social fabric in neighborhoods (care) and support green transition. This has been delivered within this project. A proposal was submitted, "CareFabric - Cross-disciplinary Approach to Research European Neighbourhoods – Facilitating the Acceleration of NEB principles for Resilience in Cities", with 17 partners from 6 countries, including Sweden. Budget is 3 Meuro, of which Swedish partners have just over 40%.

Expected long term effects

CareFabric´s main goal is to strengthen the social fabric and civic engagement in European neighborhoods as a cornerstone for a just and inclusive green transition, by leveraging cultural participation as a driver for collective empowerment and resilient urban transformation. The ambition is that the established consortium will also lead to several new collaborations and applications, both with a connection to EUs Cities Mission, New European Bauhaus and other relevant contexts.

Approach and implementation

The project has largely followed the initial planning. A digital-physical partnership meeting was held in Brussels on 8-10 September 20045879, when the main part of the partnership was set including the participating pilot cities (Bologna, Grenoble, Limassol, Umeå), and the networks ICLEI, TransEuropeHalles and Democratic Society. Due to political changes in France, the project partner in Grenoble was moved from Grenoble Alpes Metropole to the City of Grenoble, at the end of September.
