Important results from the project
The project created a Swedish-Brazilian consortium for the development of a monitoring system for the storage of carbon dioxide (Carbon Capture and Storage - CCS). The project investigated also business possibilities for the participating Swedish companies and demonstrated a proof-of-principle of a fiber optic based sensor for monitoring of CCS.
Expected long term effects
Direct results: 1) Creation of a strong Swedish-Brazilian partnership (business and technology) for the development of a monitoring system for the storage of carbon dioxide 2) Preliminary proof-of-principle for a sensor solution to monitor CO2 3) A post-doc from Brazil came to Sweden to work with us for one year paid from the Brazilian side. Indirect results: Short-term business opportunities for the participating Swedish companies, when these established strong links to the Brazilian companies during the project.
Approach and implementation
1) Creation of consortium: personal meetings realized in Brazil between academic partners and companies involved 2) Discussions carried out and proof-of-concept demonstration 3) Post-doc working in our laboratory in Sweden on the gas sensor system, funded by the Brazilian side
