Project duration December 2011 - September 2013
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Through the project, the Malmö Incubator goal was to develop competence and methods to better support startups with design as an important part of their business and become a nationwide resource for incubators hosting such companies. The overall objective was to establish powerful support that makes Swedish startup companies frontrunners in strategically and operatively working with design. Focus was on four key areas: New methods in business development, immaterial rights, funding possibilities and networking.

Expected results and effects

Gathering business developers from around the country for short seminars with narrow focus within design was a challenge, we kept the seminars open for public with a great result. We started filming and live-streaming the seminars to interested people, through social media with an even better result. The possibility to put focus on design startups prepared Mincs incubator program for better taking care of companies in the category.

Planned approach and implementation

The idea of gathering business developers from all of Sweden to attend a short, to the point seminars was not as successful as we had hoped. To have a full day or a two day program with networking possibilities between business developers, companies and investors interested in design. The fact that more design companies find their way to Malmös incubators after that Minc showed the interest in design. It may well be so that it has something to do with the seminars and networking during the project.
