Important results from the project

MERUT provides an increased understanding of how higher education institutions can use collaboration and relevance assessment as a tool in further development and dimensioning of educations. The project´s results provide support to the higher education institutions in developing, testing and introducing new working methods to develop the relevance of the educations. The project can thus be a guide for the relevance perspective in the higher education institutions´ quality assurance system regarding education and will provide a more stable basis for assessing this perspective.

Expected long term effects

Methods for relevance assessment have been collected, developed and compiled in the final report and toolbox on the web. The results have been disseminated in conferences, workshops and the project´s own final conference. The results will contribute to continued discussion within and between higher education institutions and between higher education institutions and stakeholders in the surrounding society in order to achieve increased systematics regarding relevance assessments in connection with educational development.

Approach and implementation

MERUT was set up in seven "work packages", each of which contributed to a common purpose and goal. The project had the following work packages: Project management, Definition of relevance in education, International outlook and comparison, Inventory and analysis of methods, Dialogue with external actors, Recommendations for quality assurance systems, Mutual learning, exchange of experience and dissemination of results
