Funding from Vinnova SEK 1 500 000
Project duration December 2012 - January 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Pre-project for a later realization of the project ´Man in the traffic system, a verification platform ´ (MITS). The platform consists of the equipment and tools that make it possible to conduct testing of non-critical test scenarios in real traffic. The facility will be a lab for researchers in the automotive industry, road authorities, universities, institutes, and Safer and become a complement to AstaZero.

Results and expected effects

The pre study for MITS has produced technical specifications and budget proposals. High precision requirements and the need for new technical solutions lead to the recommendation to run a method development project as the first step of realization of the concept. The natural operator will be AstaZero, the proving ground that will offer similar functionality as MITS. AstaZero should create a business model using the material from the pre study and seek financing for the implementation.

Approach and implementation

VCC supplied a project leader. A broad project group was formed based on the major organizations involved in active safety in the area. In total 16 regular project meetings were held with all participants invited. A number of work groups were formed dealing with different requirement areas. Workshops were performed and sub-reports were written and then incorporated in the main report. TSS was informed regularly about the status of the study. Technical experts were hired for writing technical specifications and reports.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
