Purpose and goal

The project was a pre-study to develop a project application for a three-year research project. The purpose was to form a project focusing on development of an industry generic platform based on the flows of the enterprise to create business value. The platform is then supposed to provide support for developing decision support based on a cross-industry perspective to identify the appropriate level of atomization and digitalization of decisions on flow based planning and control.

Expected results and effects

The objective was to develop a project application for a three-year research project. The project application is close to finished which is an important result and the most important effect is that a new consortium has been established with an academic as well as industrial breadth which makes it well positioned for performing coproduction based research focusing on automation of planning processes through the utilization of digitalization.

Planned approach and implementation

The pre-study is performed in collaboration between Linköping University and the company Optilon AB with the ambition to involve more companies. The consortium has, due to the selected focus, expanded to include academic competence on machine learning and AI. Using four workshops has been good but the focus of the pre-study has also required the participation of individuals with a more general responsibility at large companies which has resulted in a longer time frame for recruiting companies for the consortium.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
