Purpose and goal
The purpose of the SVIPS project is to develop a framework for a value based monitoring and reimbursement model within psychiatry. The SVIPS working group worked on seven work modules during the development phase and created principles for the monitoring of depression and the reimbursement of bipolar disorder. We succeeded in unifying the thinking of patients and profession about what needs to be measured in psychiatry. To our knowledge, this is the first time this has been achieved. In addition, we have harmonized our solutions with the international guidelines provided by ICHOM.
Results and expected effects
In the development phase, the SVIPS working group has succeeded in developing principles around the monitoring of depression and reimbursement of bipolar disorders. The SVIPS group employed methods to involve patients and the profession to anchor our proposed models. We succeeded in unifying the thinking of patients and profession about what needs to be measured in psychiatry. To our knowledge, this is the first time such work has been done. In addition, we have harmonized our solutions with the international guidelines provided by ICHOM.
Approach and implementation
The SVIPS working group decided to focus on depression to develop a monitoring system and on bipolar disorder to develop a reimbursement model. To this end, several methods have been used. For example, we conducted a scientific study with about 130 patients. We used questionnaires with about 200 patients and we conducted comprehensive interviews. To anchor our models, we performed workshops with patient organisations and health care professionals. Finally, we harmonized our work with ICHOMs guidelines to maximize the possibility for a national roll out in the future.
