Purpose and goal

The goals for the project have been to analyse an intelligent traffic management system from different perspectives. The main goals have been: - Cost effective and accurate positioning system - An open source code for an C-ITS Facility Layer - LDM/GDM. - Process a laser scanned cloud point representation of AstaZero into different map format. - An information aggregated GDM that can supervise trafic situations in real time and intervene to avoid and handle unsafe siutations. The goal has been sucessfully accomplished and demonstrated in practice publically at test bed Asta Zero.

Expected results and effects

Project iTRANSIT have in a structured way analyzed different perspectives for an intelligent traffic management system and cooperated closely with industry. The results have been used by VCC in their DriveMe project. An anticollision waring system - DRIWS - for airports have been developed in record time using results from the project. Carmenta AB has been supporting the project with their products which then have been furter devolped and they are now developing a commercial mutli modal C-ITS product - TrafficWatch (TM). ÅF has used the results in further Projects.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has been organized in 5 work packages where SP, VCC and AstaZero have been work packet leaders och managing the work in respective work package. The work packages have been cooperating closely and results have been shared between the work packages to finally been delivered to work package 5 - Demonstrators. The research challanges and their results have been publiched in master thesises, conferences and scientific publications with peer-rewievs.
