Purpose and goal
iPack will be internationally recognized as an important research center for intelligent packaging solutions in the areas of logistics, medical and environmental technology. iPack will serve as a role model for innovation through successful, sustainable cooperation between academia and industry partners. iPack will promote the ability of Swedish businesses to compete in the market by developing innovative electronics as part of the Internet-of-Things, through close cooperation with industry, academia and leading research centers in Sweden and internationally.
Results and expected effects
To develop world-leading technology for the integration of heterogeneous systems consisting of printed sensors, power sources, monitors, embedded computers, communication circuits, intelligent packaging, etc. Creating application relevant demonstrators focusing on logistics and medical technology; To facilitate commercialization of the center´s technology platforms by developing a portfolio of patents, to create an efficient innovation process, where research is continuously monitored for commercial value.
Approach and implementation
The center has several instruments. Joint research projects between KTH researchers and industry engineers drive the technological and scientific development of practical and industrial relevance. Seminars, workshops, conferences create an environment for the exchange of knowledge and inspiration that goes beyond those specific projects. An innovation process, carried out jointly with KTH Holding, monitors research and captures the results that are commercially valuable, and drives the patenting and commercialization with industrial partners.
