Purpose and goal
The purpose of the IIP was to gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the interaction between academia and the community, with links to research in the Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS). The goal was greater expertise and experience in innovation support. Both the goals and objectives are well met. IIP has been valuable and stimulating both for the persons who participated and UUI/UU´s business. One example is the ´Samverkanscheckar´ that UU has implemented and also Karlstad University have implemented it very successfully and Mälardalen University is also intrested.
Results and expected effects
UOE ´KE Grant´ has been translated into ´samverkanscheckar s at UU and distributed successfully, they have also spread to Karlstad University. The visit to York has already generated results in new contacts with researcher at UU and discussion on a common H2020 application. Long-term effects are enhanced cooperation between UU and UOE, AIMday will be implemented for the first time outside Sweden in Edinburgh 2014. UUI is also on track to develop an effective innovation support within HSS based on lessons learned from the IIP, i.e. through collaboration with the Grants Office.
Approach and implementation
Internship conducted by Sara Jernberg at UOE respective Anna Grönberg at UOY. UOE & UOY focuses on knowledge exchange (KE) in the broader sense (collaboration and commercialization) and has come a long way in HSS. At UOE the internship was carried out for a month in the form of shadowing of staff to learn more about their daily work as well as teaching them about AIMday. At UOY the internship was a shorter and focused on meetings with university management, researchers and industry representatives with a specific focus on the area tourism industry. See more detail of each trip report.
