Project duration November 2018 - December 2019
Status Completed
Venture Challenge-Driven Innovation – Stage 1 initiation

Purpose and goal

The overall aim of the project is to find new ways to produce new protein feed for poultry that can contribute to better animal health and more local and sustainable nutritional flows. The goals in this step of the project were to identify actors for an implementation project, plan for scaling up and feeding experiments and identify legislation that inhibits the development. The plans for upscaling experiments on insects were discontinued during the project, but otherwise the goals were met.

Expected results and effects

This first part of the project resulted in a large amount of information being collected. Partly about what is already being done within the project area, but also what needs that exist. Following this analysis, the focus of the project was directed towards finding new ways to obtain different types of protein meal to meet the needs of the industry. Several actors were located and linked to the project to jointly take new steps towards innovative solutions.

Planned approach and implementation

The design of the project consisted of information and knowledge compilation about the project area through workshops, discussions and interviews with a large number of actors. A significant part of the knowledge has also been acquired by reviewing the legislative texts and regulations that currently regulate the use of animal feed for food-producing animals. Based on this information, the project could be focused on the challenge with the greatest need.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
