Project duration December 2011 - December 2012
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The project will through feasibility studies and project plans create opportunities for SMEs to move to R&D projects with development and integration of ICT. This ICT development should then create innovations in terms of new businesses in the companies. The project´s main objective was that feasibility studies and project plans would lead to R&D projects in 10 SMEs. The result is that 18 companies conducted 17 studies, three project plans and 8 R&D projects. A total of 17 companies have decided to conduct R&D projects, and of these, has eight R&D projects been carried out i.e. near 50%.

Results and expected effects

The two companies that through checks have succeeded in developing an innovation will generate growth already in 2013. Even greater growth results can also be achieved if the 9 SMEs in need of financing for R&D projects will be offered this capability. A further stimulation of growth apply to the 6 companies that through their own financing passed by the R&D part i.e. with a working prototype before technical and functional verification. These companies also have a need financing to take the further step to a full innovation i.e. to launch the product to market and create a positive cash flow.

Approach and implementation

The original plan included the 30 innovation checks to carry out a total of 30 studies / project plans. The companies have been identified through our other SME projects, networks and coaches. Applications were judged primarily by the coach and project manager and then sent on to VINNOVA for final approval. After final approval an agreement was signed between the company and Acreo. The ongoing project was followed up by a coach who also took care of that the project completion, final reporting and invoicing was managed within a reasonable time.
