Purpose and goal

The innovation competition InfraLIGHTer Awards has developed sustainable alternatives to today´s established building materials and methods. The competition entries have contributed to solutions that improve the construction industry´s endeavor to use building and construction materials with lighter weight. Submitted competition entries with lightweight construction for pedestrian and bicycle bridges promote climate neutrality via resource-efficient bridge constructions and material optimization.

Expected results and effects

The innovation competition sought an innovative lightweight GC bridge that enables rational construction in the factory as well as fast transport and assembly with minimal disruption to traffic, the environment and existing infrastructure. The vinning concept BIFROST had the solution to the challenge. The competition contributes to the development and dissemination of solutions that improve the construction industry´s endeavor to use building and construction materials with lighter weight.

Planned approach and implementation

InfraLIGHTer Awards was a very successful and appreciated collaboration between the two SIParna InfraSweden and LIGHTer. Finding a concrete project to collaborate on was a successful concept. The competition is one in a series of innovation competitions arranged by InfraSweden, this edition had a more ambitious presentation of the competition challenge via LIGHTer´s sub-project. The competition challenge was clearly specified to find innovations close to implementation. The work process around the competition challenge has been labor-intensive but successful.
