Purpose and goal

The aim of the project is to evaluate the use of Reselo Rubber in damper applications for heavy vehicles. The aim is to verify the possibility of using Reselo Rubber in damper and isolators for heavy vehicles. Comparisons will be made between materials currently used in corresponding applications. The carbon footprint of the material will be quantified and compared to corresponding materials currently used.

Expected effects and result

Previous project and work have shown that Reselo Rubber has properties that are fundamental for rubber materials with good fatigue strength. In addition, Reselo Rubber has good to moderate oil resistance. This is a property that is missing from natural rubber, which is the most common material in damper applications in the automotive industry today. For dampers with oil resistance, chloropene rubber and acrylic rubber are used today, which are based on non-renewable raw materials.

Planned approach and implementation

The project will be carried out in the following steps: 1) Material development, recipe development and optimization of candidate materials. 2) Characterization of the most promising candidate materials, focusing on fatigue properties, dynamic properties and low temperature properties. 3) Development of a simple prototype. 4) Evaluation of CO2 footprint and sustainability.
