Purpose and goal

In the start report, we wrote the following about our aims and objectives: I this project, we will focus on readiness for change - that is, receiving and implementing digital solutions in healthcare - which requires a change in working methods. We will develop a Swedish tool that can be applied to map perceived opportunities and obstacles for changed working methods, in terms of factors both at the individual and organizational level. Now in the final report, we can report that we have met the aims and objectives.

Expected results and effects

Based on previous research we developed a tool to measure perceived readiness for change, conditions for change, support/engagement among management, perceived readiness among colleagues, consequences on status quo, and workplace attitudes. The guide has instructions on how to use the tool, information on the themes of E-Ready, instructions on how to create an implementation plan, advice for success, and tips for further reading. The development and its evaluation is published as a scientific publication. Organizations that have tested the tool have found it valuable and useful.

Planned approach and implementation

We have developed an implementation tool and a hands-on manual. The development was preceded by a literature review in the field of e-health readiness and implementation science. Based on the factors that emerged as critical to the success of change, questions within five domains that measure readiness for change emerged. We have conducted cognitive interviews, seminars with healthcare professionals who work with the implementation of digitized solutions and analyzed data with Rasch analysis. We have also tested the tool in about 800 persons in a number of organizations.
