Purpose and goal

The project aims to establish a long-term partnership between Ersta Hospital and Evelina London Children’s Hospital to develop world-leading models for the transition from pediatric to adult care in IBD. The objective is to build an internationally sustainable innovation structure that strengthens healthcare’s ability to drive development based on clinical needs and real patient experiences.

Expected effects and result

The project is expected to deliver a model for how healthcare providers can collaborate internationally on innovation, with methods that make needs identification and cooperation with industry more systematic and transparent. The results will enhance Sweden’s innovation capacity in healthcare, improve patient transitions to adult care, and contribute to a more sustainable and competitive health sector.

Planned approach and implementation

Throughout the project year, a joint innovation environment will be developed where Swedish and UK clinics exchange knowledge and methods through workshops, study visits, and virtual collaboration. The work is expected to result in a roadmap outlining how the partnership can be expanded, ensuring long-term financing and establishing an international model for future transitional care.
