| Call | Shelters of the future - practical prototypes for shelters and protected spaces of tomorrow |
Purpose and goal
Handkraft för motståndskraft explores how the shelters of the future can become easier to understand, more engaging and reassuring. The project addresses the gap between preparedness information and people’s ability to act. The goal is to develop and test three practical prototypes that help people understand, practise and contribute to preparing and using shelters, strengthening agency, confidence and local preparedness.
Expected effects and result
The project will provide practical ways to help people move from anxiety and crisis fatigue to action and participation. The results will also give municipalities, property owners and preparedness organisations new tools and insights for creating more understandable and engaging preparedness. In the longer term, this can strengthen confidence, local resilience and the will to contribute to civil defence.
Planned approach and implementation
The project follows a design-oriented, iterative process using speculative design, co-creation, interviews and site studies. Together with stakeholders, users and experts, we explore needs and possible future solutions. The insights are translated into three concrete prototypes, which are tested, refined and documented to support further development and dissemination.
