Important results from the project
The aim of the project has been to confirm the hypothesis that boards sawn from residual products from CLT panels can be used to develop and increase the volume of advanced housing construction in wood. Aspects treated to achieve the goal mainly relate to material characterization and production-related issues. In both cases, the product exceeds the expected performance.
Expected long term effects
The project resulted in quantitative and qualitative information that shows that the product can help to is suitable for use to achieve a, in some certain crucial respects, stiffer and stronger wooden multi-storey structure. The project management hopes to continue the work of developing the idea all the way to a certified and approved type-approved product. Two of several technical aspects of particular importance in such work are the expected long-term behavior and quantification of dimensional stability during variation of moisture content.
Approach and implementation
Activities within the framework of the project have been carried out 1. in a laboratory environment, 2. through analyzes and evaluations mainly at the Universities involved and 3. in a production environment at each company. An important part of the work has been about planning, production, transport and testing at the factory / University of the sawn boards. The remaining parts of the project´s implementation relate to different types of analysis of delivered material, for example with FE modeling.
