Purpose and goal

The project´s aim is to develop and verify a new system for central greywater treatment and heat recovery that reduces drinking water and energy use in apartment buildings and new construction. The goal is to develop a technically robust, economically viable and scalable solution, as well as to demonstrate function and benefits in a pilot environment and prepare for broad implementation nationally and internationally.

Expected effects and result

The project is expected to result in a solution for central greywater treatment and heat recovery, including digital monitoring and operating concepts. The effects are reduced drinking water and energy use, lower operating costs, increased resilience in properties and prepared for scaling nationally and internationally. The project contributes to Water Wise Societies´s mission by enabling sustainable water withdrawals, reduced water use and recirculation of resources in existing housing stock.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is implemented in six work packages with clear deliverables: project management, system development, pilot installation, business modeling, policy work and dissemination. The work is done iteratively with requirements definition, prototype testing, data collection and validation in a pilot property. The parties collaborate closely through a steering group, reference group and regular reconciliations to ensure quality and scalability.
