Purpose and goal
FastrAir aims to test anonymous, location-based mobile communication at airports to enhance traveler experience and operational efficiency. The goal is to evaluate the technology both legally and practically in collaboration with Swedavia, and to develop a model for broader use in public environments.
Expected effects and result
For travelers, it reduces stress, improves orientation, and enhances the overall experience by providing timely, relevant information without requiring any action or app installation. For airport operators, it enables better flow management, increased customer satisfaction, and valuable insights into traveler behavior—without compromising privacy or requiring personal data. The societal value lies in improved accessibility, reduced congestion, and more sustainable travel behavior.
Planned approach and implementation
The project is structured into four work packages: legal setup, technical implementation, user testing, and final evaluation. Technology will be deployed at Swedavia airports to test messaging with travelers. Legal review ensures GDPR compliance. Feedback is collected through interviews and analyzed to produce a final report and roadmap for national rollout.
