Important results from the project
The project´s overall objective was "Take the company to a stage where we have the ability to sell a prototype to an early adopter, which enables deeper user understanding and further development of the product". The project has led us further in the development work and given a better ability to structure the development work, plan resources, deepen customer relations, explore the product´s application in polymer technology, and develop internal tools to define performance. In summary, the project´s objective has been fulfilled to a high degree.
Expected long term effects
Through the work in the project, the company has developed to a stage where we have the ability to sell a prototype to an early adopter. The company is expected to raise venture capital shortly to drive development further. This is estimated to be sufficient for general product development, but the company needs to secure additional funds to be able to customize the product to intended markets. Two of the founders have been employed by the company for the project. With new funding, the employments can continue and another 2-4 people could be employed in the next year.
Approach and implementation
The work has been divided into three parts, (a) prototype development, (b) relationships with customers and partners and (c) prototype verification and optimization. (a) has largely been done together with knowledgeable consultants in hardware design and software architecture. It has given us increased ability to plan resources and lead times. (b) has been our own work in collaboration with customers that has given us increased market understanding. (c) has been internal work to better define our performance expressed in terms relevant to the customer.
