Important results from the project

The purpose of the project has been to verify the feasibility and customer value of Envista´s analysis for a district heating company (Vaggeryds energi, Sweden), as well as compiling input on how the platform can be developed for an even increased customer value. The result indicates that most of the Swedish building stock connected to the district heating system can be analyzed in this way and that individual as well as aggregate savings potentials can be calculated and visualized.

Expected long term effects

The method was evaluated in cooperation with the DH-company, based on an analysis of multi-dwelling houses and premises in Vaggeryd and Skillingaryd (Sweden). The result are appreciated to have contributed to an increased customer and system understanding as well as to a recent investment decision on increased heating production capacity. The analysis is also expected to contribute both in the district heating company´s internal communication, in future communication with customers and in planning of a future expansion of the district heating network.

Approach and implementation

The project has been carried out by Envista AB and is based on data from the district heating company and from national data registers, as well as Envista´s database of previously analyzed buildings. The method is based on benchmarking (big data / machine learning) between actual buildings, whereas buildings with a disadvantageous heating demand profile are located (in this case primarily buildings with "higher winter demand” than similar houses). The result is published in an interactive web-based graph and a 3D map, and has also been reported to the DH-company in the form of a workshop.
