Purpose and goal
The project aims to strengthen regional collaboration through an implementation at Karolinska University Hospital (2025-03417). The implementation demonstrates how health data within the pharmaceutical area can be structured and how a sustainable business and solution architecture can be established. Within the project, Region Halland and Västra Götaland Region follow Karolinska’s work, share knowledge and experience, and explore the possibility of carrying out similar work in their own regions.
Expected effects and result
In the short term, the project is expected to contribute to a shared understanding of challenges, improved coordination, and examples that can be developed further. For the government and national actors, it provides a basis to use in future initiatives, while healthcare, research, and industry gain a clearer view of challenges and possible ways forward. For patients, the benefits are indirect, but the project may be a first step toward developments that over time strengthen healthcare.
Planned approach and implementation
Region Halland and Västra Götaland Region study Karolinska’s approaches and results within the pharmaceutical area. They contribute reflections, comments, and improvement proposals. They will also carry out a similar, smaller data inventory in their own region or initiate a smaller investigation within the pharmaceutical area. The regions will also put forward proposals on how a long-term national collaboration can be achieved.
