Purpose and goal
The project aims to increase understanding of the profitability of regenerative agricultural systems through a world-first study of Swedish regenerative farms. By collecting data from approximately 30 farmers, we want to prove that regenerative agriculture is economically sustainable and scalable. The results will support innovation at the farm level, influence support systems and the food value chain, and accelerate the transition towards a regenerative food system in Sweden.
Expected effects and result
The project delivers results based on data from Swedish regenerative farmers in cereal cultivation, grazing and dairy production, which provides local basis for further discussions. The results are presented in a report that will be used in national and international contexts, including in Brussels by EARA. The study provides concrete basis for economic profitability in regenerative transition, in dialogues with farmers, LRF, the Swedish Board of Agriculture and the food industry.
Planned approach and implementation
The project will be implemented in five work packages during April 2026–March 2027. First, project management will be established, followed by method development in collaboration with EARA and external experts. Data will then be collected through oral interviews. Data will be analyzed and compiled in comparison with EARA´s European study, in dialogue with experts for credibility. The results will be delivered via reports and presentations to farmers, industry organizations and decision-makers.
