Important results from the project

Separate systems for monitoring and defibrillation of the heart have been in place for a long time. The purpose of this project was to develop a completely new "closed loop" system for monitoring and stimulation of cardiac impulses. Completely new algorithms and new technical product inventions were necessary to be developed. New technical solutions have been developed and some have been applied for patents for, such as a multi-contact solution and a gasket to be able to cope with daily use. Prototypes have been made and tested to ultimately result in a fully finished product.

Expected long term effects

The co-developed "closed loop" system has resulted in completely new cloud-based algorithms as well as product innovations. These together have made it possible to both monitor and stimulate heart signals. Stimulation has a limited effect and cannot replace a defibrillator. The innovations of a cloud-based software system and the product development of a disposable patch also have for themselves the level of innovation needed in the market. A new multi lead ECG monitoring system is the first to utilize parts of the technology.

Approach and implementation

The collaboration with SmartCardia in Switzerland with a focus on algorithm development and NILE in Sweden as a physical product developer has been successful. Different specialist competences have been brought together and resulted in completely new Innovations. Despite the distance this has been achieved through frequent teams´ weekly meetings and some face 2 face meetings. The colaboration has been effective and successful process.
