Important results from the project
Mental illness is increasing rapidly. More people are in need of care, which has led to increases in queues for care. The purpose of the project is to give more patients access to treatment with the same or less resources through a combination of new technology and new ways of prioritizing and treating patients. The project has had three main goals; to develop a conceptual care model for mental illness based on the LEON principle, to further develop the technical solutions needed to enable implementation of the care model, and validation of the care model.
Expected long term effects
The project has defined a conceptual care model for mental health based on the LEON-principle. The technical solutions required to apply the care model have undergone extensive further development. This has led to major functional advances, especially in the technology platform´s activity model, user interface and integration layer. The care model and the technical solutions have been validated. It has been shown that there is a great deal of interest from both healthcare providers and healthcare payors for this form of application.
Approach and implementation
The project began with a needs assessment to set the frame for both how the care model should be designed, and identify which technical needs / functions need to be addressed by the technology platforms. The needs assessment was used as input to the design of the care model and as a target picture for development of the technology platform, which was done based on agile principles. Validation of the conceptual care model and the further development of the technology platform took place on an ongoing iterative basis. The final year of the project was run entirely remotely due to covid-19.
