Purpose and goal

The MOSIM project (End-to-End Digital Integration based on Modular Simulation of Natural Human Motions) has focused on strengthening companies´ production preparation by introducing improved methods for simulation through virtual manikins. The project has also focused on improving the workflow for production preparation engineers by improving operability between simulation tools and process planning tools.

Expected results and effects

The project has developed a proposed process how a company can prepare its production through: (1) Process planning where the work is defined in tasks, (2) The process plan is transferred and a simulation scene is built to carry out the simulation of the process plan, (3) Results from step (2) can be optimized through multi-objective optimization, (4) Ability to update the simulations and its scene, (5) Balancing with respect to both time consumption and ergonomics at the same time. This is possible through the components that have been developed and/or updated in the project.

Planned approach and implementation

The project´s results were possible to achieve through close collaboration between industry partners, software developers and academia. A current state analysis of the market´s current capacity regarding production preparation and simulation was made and common business requirements and needs were defined in the project. Regular status meetings have enabled the transfer of knowledge within the project. The industrial partners have continuously evaluated changes internally and together with the software developers, academia and the consulting companies within the project.
